The Japanese have their short form called the Haiku... Now, the HighwayPoets bring you their own sincere, succinct and special biker poetic form...

Baiku: n. A Biker lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of riding or biker life.

August Was National Biker Poetry Month!

It was road time and readings...sunshine and rain... brothers and sisters hugging... bikers sharing words and moments throughout New England... it was the first National Biker Poetry Month, and it was a roaring success.

The Highway Poets MCC, in association with RoadPoet eMagazine made this month of biker poetry happen. Members traveled thousands of miles through all kinds of weather to bring biker poetry to poetry fans and citizens alike, appearing at venues as diverse the Howl festival in New York City, AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island, Booksellers in Malden, Massachusetts and The Acoustic Café in Portland, Maine.

You can be sure that we're already planning a bigger and more intense National Biker Poetry Month for August of 2006. Stay Tuned!
